Everyone, if they are honest, struggles and gets scared.

There's nothing wrong with talking about it and asking for help. Many people find it less risky to talk to a stranger. As a therapist, my role is to help you find the answers within yourself, to assist you in gaining clarity in the midst of uncertainty.

I know it is not easy to call a therapist, but if you are willing to take a risk, I think you will find it to be a rewarding experience.

MEET Kathy Chastain, LMFT

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Author

Kathy Chastain is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a diverse professional background and a deep commitment to helping individuals, families, and communities navigate complex challenges and move toward lasting change.

Before entering the field of therapy, Kathy spent several years in the sports nutrition and fitness industry, where she owned and operated national retail stores, produced Fresno’s first NPC bodybuilding show, and worked as a fitness model. This experience developed her entrepreneurial mindset, leadership skills, and ability to build and grow meaningful initiatives.

Kathy’s transition into the mental health field was shaped by her work with individuals in high-risk and system-involved environments. As a graduate intern, she worked with female felony parolees transitioning from incarceration into residential treatment, and later volunteered within Tulare County’s Juvenile Justice Detention Facility. These experiences gave her a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals navigating trauma, instability, and systems involvement—and a strong commitment to working with those who are often misunderstood or overlooked.

Driven by this work, Kathy founded Genesis House, Tulare County’s first licensed runaway and homeless youth shelter, designed to serve highly at-risk youth and provide stability, support, and opportunity during critical periods of their lives.

At the core of Kathy’s work is a strong ability to understand patterns, identify underlying issues, and help both individuals and systems move toward more effective and healthy ways of functioning. She brings a thoughtful, grounded, and solution-oriented approach to her work, helping clients gain clarity, strengthen relationships, and move forward with greater confidence and stability.

Her approach to therapy is both values-driven and practical, integrating evidence-based frameworks with a deeper understanding of identity, purpose, and personal growth. Kathy believes that when individuals begin to understand their value and develop a stronger sense of identity, meaningful and lasting change becomes possible.

In addition to her clinical work, Kathy is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator, based on the research of Brené Brown, and a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts. She is also the author of Redeem California: With God, All Things Are Possible.

Kathy believes that change is possible, that growth comes through both insight and action, and that individuals and families can move toward greater stability, restoration, and a more grounded, authentic way of living.

Her Values are: TRUTH, FAITH & FREEDOM
